Refined Heart logo

A grounded identity for spiritual refinement.

Refined Heart, established in 2014, is dedicated to personal spiritual and educational development based on teachings present in the Qur'an and the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Its programming serves students, professionals, and families through gatherings of remembrance, educational workshops, retreats, and community-based events in the metro-Detroit area.

The brand identity needed to feel sincere, tranquil, and elevated: rooted in tradition, but clear enough for modern nonprofit communications across events, merchandise, advertising, social media, and educational materials.

The challenge

  • Build an identity that feels spiritual without becoming ornamental or difficult to use
  • Create a logo system that works as both a full wordmark and compact icon
  • Define clear dark-background and white-logo usage rules
  • Establish repeatable pattern assets for framing images, text, and campaign layouts
  • Balance blue light, cream, gold, and secondary tones without visual clutter

Deliverables

  • Primary square logo and horizontal wide logo
  • Light logo versions for dark and high-contrast applications
  • Logo spacing, scaling, and misuse guidance
  • Primary and secondary colour systems
  • Typography hierarchy for headings, subheadings, and body copy
  • Arrow and diamond pattern assets
  • Practical design guidance for campaign and social templates

"Refined Heart is dedicated to personal spiritual and educational development through gatherings of remembrance, workshops, retreats, and community-based events."
